What AI images do

AI images add two things on top of your designed creative: background removal, which gives each product a clean cutout instead of its original photo background, and lifestyle scenes, which place that cutout into a generated on-brand setting. The cutout or scene becomes the product image inside your designed template - the frame, badges, and pricing still render exactly as you built them.

Your standard designed images are always the baseline. If AI images are off, or the spend cap is reached, every product keeps serving its regular designed creative. Nothing in your feed ever waits on a generation job.

The AI Images screen groups its controls top to bottom: a cutout provider picker set to the free, built-in option by default, a coverage selector (top products only or whole catalog), the spend cap input, and a Preview cutout action you can run before turning anything on for real.

Free background removal, built in

Background removal runs in-house on every plan at no cost, so there's no vendor key to paste and no vendor account to set up. It's the default cutout provider the first time you open AI images.

1. Open AI Images and turn on AI cutouts.
2. Leave the cutout provider set to container (free) - it's selected by default and never asks for a key.
3. Select Preview cutout on a product to see the cutout quality before turning anything on for real.

Optional: a higher-end cutout vendor

If you want a different vendor's edge quality or an indemnified, licensed-model provider, switch the cutout provider to fal.ai, Bria, or Photoroom and connect your own key. Generation then runs on your vendor account, so you pay that vendor directly and Adorn never marks up an image. Cutouts start around $0.002 an image on fal.ai, or about two cents on Bria and Photoroom. Your key is stored encrypted against your account and used only for your images.

1. Open AI Images and change the cutout provider from container (free) to fal.ai, Bria, or Photoroom.
2. Paste your API key from that vendor's dashboard and select Connect key.
3. Select Preview cutout on a product to confirm the key works and you like the edge quality before switching over for real.

Choose coverage

Coverage decides which products get cutouts. Top products only covers a set number of your highest-priority products, a bounded slice you choose. Whole catalog covers everything, including new products as they arrive in the feed, so coverage maintains itself as the catalog grows. Switching to whole catalog is a catalog-wide action, so Adorn always confirms first - on the free cutout it shows the product count at $0 per image, on a BYO vendor it shows the projected cost before you save.

Set the spend cap

The spend cap is a hard limit on how many images Adorn may generate in a rolling 30-day window. It is the wallet control: coverage decides which products are eligible, the cap decides how fast they generate. A large catalog backfills across windows at the pace you set, and the screen shows how far coverage has gotten and how long the rest will take at the current cap.

Finished images are cached by content, so a product that has its cutout never generates again until its source image actually changes. You pay once per unique image, not per render or per impression.

Lifestyle scenes (included on every plan)

Scenes are the premium layer: your cutout placed into a generated setting that matches the look you describe, from a scene prompt you write, like a bright Scandinavian living room wall. Scenes are included on every plan and run on Adorn's own provider, so there is no key to go and fetch, and each plan carries a monthly scene allowance. If you would rather run them on your own account, you can still pick a scene provider of your own (Bria or Photoroom) and connect your key, and the generation is then billed to you by that vendor. Either way a scene costs roughly ten times a cutout to produce, which is why the spend cap matters more here than it does on cutouts.
