The Inspector: content and layout

Checked against the app on October 17, 2026

What the Inspector's sections for an element's content and layout do, from Asset and Text to Position & size and Data binding.

How the Inspector works

Select an element on the canvas or in Layers, and the Inspector on the right shows the sections for that kind of element. Press a section's name to fold it away or open it again, and press the ? beside it to read its part of these guides in the Help panel.

The Inspector's Text section for the price, with the Help with Text button marked.
The ? beside a section's name opens its part of these guides.

This guide covers the sections for an element's content and its place on the design. The sections for how it looks and moves, and for AI, are in the next guide.

Asset

Asset appears when you select an image you uploaded, such as a logo. Attach image picks the file, a PNG, JPEG or GIF, and once one is attached it reads Replace image. WebP files are not supported.

The Inspector's Asset section for an uploaded image, with the Attach image file field marked.
Once an image is attached, the field reads Replace image.

Text

Text holds the type controls for an element with words in it: Font and size, Bold, Italic, Underline and Strikethrough, the alignment buttons and the case buttons. More type holds the weight, letter spacing and line height.

The Inspector's Text section for the sale badge, with the Font and size button marked.
Font and size shows the face and size the layer uses now.

A layer follows your brand font until you pick a face of its own here.

Product image

Product image chooses which of a product's photos this layer shows, from the Image menu. Each product swaps in its own photo.

The Inspector's Product image section, with the Product image variant field marked.
Each product shows its own photo in the slot you pick.

Content

Content is the words a text element shows. Type them in the box, and use Dynamic fields to put a field such as the price or the percentage off into them, so that part fills from each product. Text with no field in it reads the same on every image.

The Inspector's Content section for a new text element, with the Dynamic fields button marked.
Dynamic fields lists the fields you can put into the text.

A field bound under Data binding takes the place of this text.

Reviews

Reviews sets what a star rating shows. Rating source picks where the rating comes from, and Min reviews and Min rating hide the stars on products below those numbers. Show rating value and Show review count add the score and the count beside the stars, and Star shape changes the stars themselves.

The Inspector's Reviews section for a star rating, with the Show review count checkbox marked.
The stars show only on products that meet both minimums.

Countdown

Countdown sets the sale end a countdown shows. Display chooses Sale end date (Sale ends Dec 25), which shows the date your sale ends, or Live countdown, which counts down to it at each feed refresh and hides once the time passes. A market that writes the day first shows the day first.

The Inspector's Countdown section, with the Countdown display field marked.
The canvas shows the sale end date as soon as you set it.

Sale ends sets the date and time. Until you set it, the element shows nothing.

Align to artboard

Align to artboard snaps the selected element to an edge or the center of the artboard, and Center on artboard puts it in the middle. It keeps its own anchor, and aligning at a size other than 1:1 changes that size only.

The Inspector's Align to artboard section, with the Center on artboard button marked.
Each button snaps the element to one edge or to the middle.

Mask

Mask clips an element to a shape: a circle, a rounded rectangle or a rectangle. A masked product photo can still be moved inside its mask with Crop on canvas, under Image fit.

The Inspector's Mask section for a shape, with the Mask: Rounded button marked.
Pick a shape, and the element is clipped to it on the canvas.

Image fit

Image fit sets how the product photo sits in its box. Fit mode chooses Fit, which shows the whole photo with a band of color around it, or Fill, which fills the box and crops the photo. Scale, Offset X and Offset Y zoom and move it, and Crop on canvas lets you do the same by dragging on the canvas.

The Inspector's Image fit section, with the Crop on canvas button marked.
Crop on canvas lets you drag and zoom the photo inside its box.

Letterbox color sets the band behind a Fit photo, and Ambient blur fills it with a blurred copy of the photo instead.

Crop

Crop appears when you select an image you uploaded. Fit mode shows the whole image or crops it to fill its box, Scale, Offset X and Offset Y zoom and move it, and Crop on canvas lets you drag it into place.

The Inspector's Crop section for an uploaded image, with the Crop on canvas button marked.
Crop on canvas lets you drag the uploaded image into place.

Position & size

Position & size shows the element's place on the artboard in pixels: X and Y for its position, W and H for its width and height, and R for its rotation. Type a number to change it. The section starts folded, because you can drag and resize on the canvas instead.

The Inspector's Position & size section for the title, with the X field marked.
Type a number to place the element exactly.

Data binding

Data binding connects an element to a field from your products. Bind field picks the field, such as the product title or the price, and each product fills in its own value.

The Inspector's Data binding section for the title, with the Bind field field marked.
Bind field lists the product fields this element can show.

Conditional visibility shows the element only on products that match a rule. Under Show if, choose a field, how it compares and a value, such as products that are on sale.
